Our Specialised Equipment

Retinal Imagery

At our Mount Gravatt practice, we are proud owners of an Optos ultra-widefield retinal imager. While traditional, small-field retinal imaging only captures 10-100° of the retina in one image, our Optos imager allows us to visualise 82%, or 200°, of the retina in a single photograph. This is important for detecting early changes associated with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal conditions.

At our Marsden practice, we also have an Eidon Confocal retinal scanner, which offers super-high contrast and resolution photographs of the back of the eye. This scanner is able to image through cataracts and other opacities to produce true colour imaging.

Tomographer

Our Optical Coherence Tomographer allows us to take a scan of your eye that is similar to an MRI. This creates a layer-by-layer map of the back or front of your eye and is a key tool in detection and management of numerous ocular conditions.

Dry Eye

Dry eye is a disease that has several causes, and we are able to determine the cause with our Oculus Keratograph 5M topographer. This topographer lets you see what we see, so you can obtain a deeper understanding of your dry eye. Once a diagnosis of dry eye is made, treatment can me initiated on the same day with our Blephasteam therapeutic mask and supply of artificial tears and lubricants.
